Chicago Woman Arrested for Driving Drunk

Posted on December 14, 2012 in Personal Injury

According to the Chicago Sun Times, 32 year old Ayesha Crawford was arrested for driving while under the influence with her three children in the car. She was driving along the expressway and encountered an accident scene. She was traveling at a high rate of speed and barely avoided colliding into several emergency vehicles that were at the scene. As authorities tried to pull Crawford over, she attempted to flee the scene. She drove toward a flatbed wrecker that was there to clean up the scene. She attempted to drive her GMC Yukon up the deck and then drove off the side of the wrecker. At that time, police were able to stop and apprehend her. Once she stopped, it was discovered that her children ages 5, 6 and 10 were in the vehicle with her. Fortunately, the children were unharmed. It was found that Crawford was driving in an impaired state. She is facing several charges including operating a vehicle while impaired, neglect of a dependent and habitual traffic violator. She was also wanted on four outstanding warrants, two of which were failure to appear warrants. All charges are Class D felonies. With the holidays around the corner, it is easy to get caught up in celebrations and festivities. There is nothing wrong with enjoying libations with friends and family as long as you do so responsibly. If you or a family member are injured in an accident due to a drunk driver, you need to have a qualified and aggressive DuPage County accident and injury attorney there to represent you and protect your interests. Law enforcement authorities have several tools at their disposal to test the level of your alcohol consumption. They are trained to give field sobriety tests, they have breathalyzer machines and some municipalities are even going into using blood tests. All of these things are designed to strengthen the case against you. You should have a strong defense attorney there to counter the allegations against you.
